I was leary when I ordered this item as there are bad reviews all over the internet about how it drops primers on the floor among other problems. I have used my other Lee safety primer for 2 years and have inserted many thousands of primers with it and it is still working but I decided to upgrade to... this new unit.I installed this new unit on my Lee Classic Turret press and lined it up with the primer cup and then used the primer inserter like I had used my other lee safety primer(using my first finger on the serrated part to push in) and they were right it will drop all of the primers on the floor. Anyway this style is different in how it inserts the primer in the cup. What I found out was I had to push it all the way in first by using my thumb on the small flat part on the back until the unit is all the way forward. Only then can you push down on the front to drop the primer in the cup. I did not use any part of the serrated section on the primer drop unit. There is no click like my other unit and it is much smoother to use. Once I figured out how to use my thumb and first finger in a kind of "V" shape I had no problems whatsoever with it dropping primers. Every primer was in the cup perfect. I am using the small rifle as I only use small primers.
This is the model Lee's site says to use with the new auto breech lock press. If it isn't aligned exactly, it likes to drop primers. Even lined up properly and used consistently, it still drops them at times. Finally put a tray under it to catch the dropped primers. Primer tray comes out easily.... If you try to pick it up by the tray, you'll end up with primers all over the floor. Tilt the tray and get primers near the top and some will flip inside the tray. The old round one was better made and was more consistent with my old turret press. It's still better than handling primers without it.

A never fail solution if you like to prime cartridges on the press and use a single stage press like the Lee Challenger press.

Works well 99% of the time, once you get the hang of it. It still reduces time and handling over positioning a primer with fingers.

It is what it is it will eventually wear out but it is extremely inexpensive and it does work, but I would say it has a shelflife as it is plastic and eventually it will break

Works as described, just cheap made. I haven't had any issues with it, just expecting to due to quality. Can't beat the price point though!
