I recently received my new Harvey Deprimer, "#sweepstakes". I grabbed a mixed box of cases and began to play with my new toy. At first it was very frustrating to line up the decapping pin with the primer hole, but once in, the lever was easy to push, even with my arthritic hands, and the primer popped right out, but the process was slow and tedious, not acceptable! After 56 years of reloading, I knew there had to be a better way to line up the cases, The first thing that came to mind was my RCBS primer pocket reamer tool and the caliber specific pilots that slide on the spindle and lock in place. I grabbed the 35 caliber pilot and adjusted it for a 9mm case, then 38spl, 357mag and then 380acp all worked without a problem. The 45 caliber pilot worked great for 45acp and 45LC and the 30 caliber was as smooth as silk for 30-06 and 308 cases. I'm ordering seven more pilots to fill in the gaps (by the way Midsouth, as usual, has the lowest prices on these pilots). With or without the pilots the product functions flawlessly and allows you to decap much quicker than you can using a press. Once deprimed you can clean the primer pocket, deburr the flash hole, trim and chamfer the case and vibrate or tumble it before using your press to complete the loading process, which will save a lot of time, especially with handgun cases.
